PHIL'S  PHIL-OSOPHY

Phillip Jones, President

As officers of the KAPT our charge is  to provide our members and transportation associates with the best and most up to date training and information available.  After compiling the evaluations from our fall conference, I am pleased to report that our presenters / presentations received an average of 4.50 out of a possible 5.00.  This is encouraging, since we are aware that each person attending the conference has a different need for information.  Our members have identified some areas of concern and we will attempt to fulfill their request during the next year.  In the next few weeks, please take a few minutes to review the below list and make known to me which of these topics interest you:

Improving/Changing Driver Attitude Maintenance Procedures Bus Inspection Program
Wage and Hour Issues Medical Requirements for SN Drivers Policy and Procedures-Different Districts

Over the past few conferences, we have covered most of these topics, but since we are experiencing a growth in membership, we will gladly entertain the prospect of having these presentations in the near future.  If you have additional request or suggestions, please let your desire be known, as this is your Association.

Thank You - the Board for your encouragement and - the membership for your support.  As we all strive to provide the safest and most econimically service possible, we must maintain our "brotherhood" of pupil transportation professionals by exchanging ideas and providing assistance to each other.  Over the years the KAPT has put in place, one of the strongest networks for sharing information - Don't hesitate to use your resources and contact any KAPT member for assistance.

During these economic challenging times, I am sure we all know a high school senior that could use some assistance as they enter higher education next fall.  Please take a few minutes and direct a transportation employee of yours to look at the qualifications and encourage them to have their son or daughter compete for one or our four $1,000 KAPT Scholarships.  These scholarships will be award next spring, so please encourage them to begin the application process soon.

KAPT SPRING CONFERENCE

"...etc..."

A young couple moves into a new neighborhood.
The next morning while they are eating breakfast, the young
woman sees her neighbor hanging the wash outside.
"That laundry is not very clean", she said.
"She doesn't know how to wash correctly.

Perhaps  she needs better laundry soap"

Her husband looked on, but remained silent.

Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry, the
young woman would make the same comments.

About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a
nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband:

"Look, she has learned how to wash correctly.

I wonder who taught her this?"

The husband said, "I got up early this morning and
cleaned our windows."

And so it is with life. What we see when watching others
depends on the purity of the window through which we look.
